Within the context of academic freedom, the Board of Trustees recognizes that the College best serves its students and community as an open intellectual forum where varying ideas may be freely expressed and fairly debated. In making the decision of whether or not to present published materials, art exhibitions, recitals, programs, ideas, etc., the following should be considered:

1. The controversial possibility must be considered in the decision of whether or not to present the published materials, art exhibition, recital, programs, ideas, etc.
2. The rights and interests of the audience should be considered.
3. In order to ensure the educational integrity of the College, to endeavor to protect academic freedom, to respect audience sensibilities, and to maintain the health, welfare, and safety of the College community, the Board of Trustees, through the President of the College, reserves the right to make the ultimate determination as to what materials may be published, exhibited, or presented in the name of the College or by use of its facilities.
